À l'approche de la saison des fêtes, plusieurs d'entre nous seront occupés à planifier des activités pour nos familles et nos salles de classe. Pourquoi ne pas inclure un temps de lecture à voix haute pour les jeunes et les jeunes de cœur ? La lecture à voix haute développe le vocabulaire et la maîtrise de la langue, que ce soit dans une langue maternelle ou dans une langue que vous apprenez. Il n' y a rien de mieux qu'un livre illustré pour éveiller la curiosité et encourager la rétention du vocabulaire. À l'Université de l'Alberta, il y a deux bibliothèques qui possèdent d'importantes collections pédagogiques. La Bibliothèque Saint-Jean (située au cœur du quartier francophone) et Coutts Education Library au Campus Nord, offrent un choix impressionnant de livres de contes en français, en anglais et en langues autochtones. Nous avons rassemblé quelques suggestions qui sauront plaire à tous les âges ! Les présentoirs de la Bibliothèque Saint-Jean et Coutts Education Library sont remplis de livres de contes saisonniers prêts à vous tenter.

As we approach the holiday season many of us will be busy organizing activities for our families and classrooms to fill the winter days and evenings. Why not include read aloud story time for the young at heart ? Reading aloud builds vocabulary and language fluency whether in a first language or in a language that you are learning. There is nothing better than an illustrated story book to pique the curiosity and and encourage vocabulary retention. The University of Alberta has two libraries that feature large pedagogical collections: Bibliothèque Saint-Jean (located in Edmonton's french quarter) and Coutts Education library at the north campus. Both libraries have terrific selections of story books in either French, English or Indigenous languages. We have put together a few suggestions that are sure to delight all ages ! To further entice you to rediscover the storybook collections we have displays both at Bibliothèque Saint-Jean as well as at Coutts Education Library of seasonal read-aloud books.
